BandMGT started as a personal project to solve the chaos of running a real gigging band. It turned into something bigger — and it's still growing.
BandMGT was built by William Johnson — a software engineer, product manager, and lifelong musician who has been playing in bands for over 30 years. William currently plays drums in a covers band called Space Pigs.
Over the years, William experienced the same cycle every working band knows: scattered WhatsApp threads, setlists buried in someone's notes app, gig details spread across three group chats, and the inevitable last-minute panic — "What time are we actually on?"
After years of this, William decided to build something properly — a real tool designed from the ground up around the actual day-to-day reality of running a gigging band.
The mission is simple: help real bands spend less time on admin and more time playing music.
BandMGT isn't built from market research or trend analysis. It's shaped by 30+ years of actual gigging experience — and by the bands who use it today.
Every feature starts with a real problem. Early users are actively helping shape the platform's direction — their feedback drives the roadmap. This is a platform built carefully and iteratively, not rushed out to chase a trend.
There are plenty of generic tools bands try to adapt. BandMGT is the only one built specifically for the way gigging bands actually work.
"I've been a drummer since I was a teenager. I've played in originals bands, covers bands, and function bands. I've loaded kit into pubs at six in the evening and packed it up at midnight. I know what band life actually looks like.
Professionally, I work as a software engineer and product manager. When I looked at the tools available to bands, I couldn't understand why nothing properly addressed the real-world problems we all deal with. So I built something myself.
BandMGT is the tool I wish I'd had for the past three decades. If you've got feedback or questions — I genuinely want to hear from you."
BandMGT is still growing, and early users genuinely help shape what gets built next. You can see what's already shipped on the What's New page.
